About the GKL Group

GKL is a family owned dynamic business that has grown by more than 300% in the last 5 years. We have successfully diversified from being a pure Civil Engineering business in to other sectors and have our corporate head office in Peterborough. GKL operates a “hub” operating model with offices & capabilities strategically located across the Midlands & East Anglia. We currently have an operating turn over of £35m and employ 230 full time staff. Although a relatively young business, we have invested heavily in our people, property and assets to galvanise a team of tradesman who are able (and qualified) to provide our customers with a wide range of flexible solutions.

The GKL Group offers a local and flexible alternative to larger organisations that may have become complacent in Serving your needs. We believe that our people and management team have the values that our customers expect, quite simply these are:

  • A commitment to delivering the agreed outcome on time and to budget;
  • Engaging with our customers in a “partnership” way – supported by a clear Service Level Agreements;
  • Recognising that sometimes things do go wrong - but being prepared to stay (or return) until the job is corrected and the customer is absolutely satisfied and
  • End-to-end ownership

Business unit objectives

  • We seek to promote staff from within based on individual ability and ambition
  • We actively encourage staff to submit new 'concepts' to the senior team for consideration. These are then reviewed in detail and a senior "project sponsor" appointed if taken forward
  • We are in the progress of developing a new performance & reward structure that will ensure staff are rewarded in such a way that reflects the contribution they make to the business
