Newham General Hospital Access Road
Primary infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, specialist structures

Scope of Works
GKL together with VolkerFitzpatrick worked in partnership to develop and construct the new primary infrastructure to serve the newly constructed MHU at Newham General Hospital, East London.
In addition to the standard primary infrastructure works GKL, in conjunction with its supply chain partners designed and installed an innovative reinforced earth embankment retaining wall within the project which ment that 95% of excavated contaminated material could be contained within the site as opposed to costly off site disposal.
In conjunction with the above GKL also installed timber crib retaining wall structures, storm water drainage infrastructure and two 40,000 litre storage tanks in line with a 3.5m diameter hydro-brake chamber to act as on site attenuation and flow control systems to carefully regulate the discharge rate into the local sewer system.
