Major demolition and refit contract for GKL
23 September 2008
GKL Group announces a major civil engineering contract in London.
GKL Group have won a major demolition and refit contract for a former Marks & Spencer's flag ship store in central London.
By exceeding expectations in a competitive tender exercise, GKL is now at an advanced stage of stripping and redeveloping the 40,000 sq ft store.
With internal demolition and strip out works scheduled for completion by the 30 September 2008, the building is then to be converted in to a large hub store for another major retail chain.
Removing escalators, lifts, asbestos, stairways and sprinkler systems all pose different challenges to the 20 full-time GKL team who are on site.
Work of this nature is ideal for the new "BROKK" machine (shown) that GKL recently acquired - it is a remote controlled robotic arm that aids safe demolition reducing the risk of falls from height, falling debris and inhalation injuries.
