CHILTERN DISTRIBUTION

Design & Build

Following the recommendation from a previous client, GKL were approached by the owner of a site at Funthams Lane in Whittlesey to improve their warehouses and external yard space.

Working with both the landowner and the two tenants, GKL were appointed on a design-and-build basis to deliver a comprehensive new scheme involving a new foul water and storm water drainage system, external reinforced concrete yard, permeable block paved car parking areas, S278 highway junction along with upgrades to both the water and power distribution to all three warehouses.

The fenland location meant ground conditions were challenging, but GKL and our design partners were able to develop a drainage scheme composing of high level stormwater attenuation and a pumped above ground sand filtration system.

GKL managed the whole process from design, planning and implementation. The works included site clearance, drainage with 300m3 of stormwater attenuation, more than 3,000m2 of reinforced concrete, new fencing and street lighting.

Thoroughout the entire process, Chiltern Distribution’s yard remained completely operational, minimising disruption and downtime to the business.

This type of projet where GKL thrives the most. By working with clients from the very outset of a project, we added value at every step of the way, steering the process from the very start to turnkey completion.

‘We at Topland could not have asked for more from GKL. From their knowledge of end user requirements, their straightforward and honest approach to works and competitive pricing resulted in a very smooth and successful project. Delivering in time and helping us to find significant savings along the way. I would unreservedly recommend GKL and personally hope to work with them again in the near future.’
