CHILTERN DISTRIBUTION

Following the recommendation of our services from a previous customer GKL were approached by the landowner of the site at Funthams Lane, Whittlesey to assist them with a series of improvements to their warehouses and external yard space.

Working with both the landowner and the two tenants GKL were engaged on a design and build basis along with all planning requirements to deliver a comprehensive new scheme involving a new foul water and storm water drainage system, external reinforced concrete yard, permeable block paved car parking areas, S278 highway junction along with upgrades to both the water and power distribution to all three warehouses.

Given the fenland location, ground conditions were extremely challenging however GKL and their design team partners were able to use their local knowledge to design and develop a drainage scheme comprising of high level stormwater attenuation along with a pumped above ground sand filtration system to overcome these obstacles.

GKL managed the whole process from technical design, planning approval through to the actual works on site which included site clearance, new drainage with 300m3 of stormwater attenuation, over 3,000m2 of reinforced concrete along with new fencing and street lighting.

All of the above was completed whilst keeping the current yard operational so as to cause the minimum amount of disruption to the tenant and their daily business.
