FORTREY COURT
Housing Development
Fortrey Court showcased the true breadth of GKL’s in-house skills. We worked with the client to transform a semi derelict former builders merchant’s yard into a new, purpose built residential development.
With two listed buildings at the gateway to the site, GKL worked with the local council’s heritage and conservation teams to propose a scheme that managed to bring these neglected properties back to life.
Fortrey House was restored to its former glory, with the majority of its original features carefully exposed, restored and enhanced to transform this back to a stunning five bedroom manor house. Discreet thermal upgrades such as a high-temperature air source heat pump, which provides heating and hot water, allowed us to not distrupt the house’s old charm, whilst bringing it into the 21st Century.
The former Coach House was also partially demolished and rebuilt to transform from an old materials store to a modern 4 bedroom home.
Utilising our expertise in brownfield sites, the remaining part of the site was transformed to provide six bungalows each within a quiet cul-de-sac, each with two or three bedrooms.
All the properties in the court has sleek underfloor heating installed, each with an air source heat pump to maximise the efficiency of these homes.
