An overview of Hampton, Peterborough
GKL Group are proud to have been part of the Hampton, Peterborough development for over 25 years.
As this was one of the largest development schemes in the UK and Europe, we have been innovative and agile in our approach as the Principal Contractor for the Enabling Works and Primary Infrastructure.
Our predominant focus was on infrastructure works including roads, bridges, earth moving, sewers and amenities supply. We worked closely with the owners and project management team at O&H Hampton to ensure maximum efficiency yet minimal disruption to the growing residents. The project boasts two secondary schools, four primary schools, shopping facilities and a number of blue chip companies which have taken up occupancy at this new township.
Key Metrics
- Over 2.5 million m3 of cut and fill undertaken to deliver the development platforms
- 30 miles of highway infrastructure completed
- Extensive Ecological works, from newt and amphibian tunnels and culverts to mitigation ponds
- Over 1,000 acres of open space and country parks
- 25 playgrounds built
Our works over this time have supported over 8,500 homes, along with the delivery of two secondary schools and five primary schools, over 1,000 acres of open space and country parks and 100’s of new businesses.
The development has created over 5,800 jobs to date and our sister company, GKL Developments has also invested in residential development in this new township with success. Our construction business has supported a number of building works including schools, retail, commercial and residential development works with a number of investors into the area. We maintain a long term approach to projects as we see new phases taking shape over the coming years including Hampton Gardens, Hampton Beach, Hampton Woods and Hampton Water, all of which will have distinctive and individual themes. We are very pleased with the construction work we have completed to date and look forward to seeing the development come to fruition.
Furthermore, we planned much of the earth moving works to create as little disruption to the residents of Hampton Hargate and Hampton Vale as possible including the construction of a tunnel under the main through road into the new phase Hampton Gardens, Hampton Beach, Hampton Woods and Hampton Water.
