GKL worked on a Peterborough brownfield project that required the move of 2.5 million cubic metres of material from one side of the 2,900 acre site to the other.

The haul route needed to cross one of the main roads into the south of the city. Under traffic restrictions impoosed by the local authority, the operation was intended to take eight years.

This was not an option for the client, so GKL designed and implemented the build of a tunnel crossing under the road for the construction traffic. After securing full road closure over the Easter holiday, the company completed the construction and reinstated the carriageway in just four days.
