ROOKERY PIT

The project at Rookery Pit highlighted GKL Group’s ability to undertake major Earthworks problems.

As design-and-build contractor, our design included plans to restore a former brickworks pit creating over 50 acres of development area for future use.

The scope included:

• Dewatering the eastern half of the pit into new ditches.
• Reprofiling the base of the pit.
• Butressing the northern, southern and eastern slopes.
• Ground investigation including boreholes and trial pits.

Along with new engineered earth embankments to the North, East and South of the pit over 650,000m³ of material was moved and placed with 3km of new drainage installed.

All works were undertaken with our own plant and equipment highlighting our capabilities to take on projects of any size and scale.
